OwlCrate: September 2016

I’m so excited! In case you can’t tell by now, OwlCrate boxes are amazing and I love getting them in the mail. They’re glorious, and wonderful, and creative, and full of goodies that make your fangirl heart squeal. I know I haven’t posted one of these for a while now, and for that I’m sorry – it just kind of got away from me for a bit. But now it’s coming back in full force, so, without further ado….

The theme for September was amazing. I mean, the theme (and everything about these boxes) is always amazing. September is darkness. Ohhhhhhhooo! Can’t you just feel the anticipation rising?

14423610_10208704638988405_388640473_o

It’s just so dark and gloomy and wonderful. This stuff is deadly.

The first item I pulled out was a giant bath bomb that claims it can tell your fortune. Sadly, I do not have a bathtub in my dorm room, so my fortune is going to have to wait no matter how badly I want to use it right now.

14375298_10208704639068407_971820409_o

Next up out of the wondrous box of goodies was this awesome candle!

14393209_10208704639308413_754378444_o

It’s fantastic. Not only is it Throne of Glass related (which, come on, literal icing on the cake here), it also smells divine. I wish I could use it right now, but I’m not allowed to have candles in my dorm room (shhh), so it’s kind of a non-lightable secret.

14408134_10208704639028406_677065695_o

But damn straight do I want to rattle the stars!

The next item was something I wasn’t expecting. Not in the slightest. The September box included the first volume, or episode, of a serial publication called Remade. While I haven’t started it yet, it sounds really interesting – so I can’t wait to crack it open.

14393218_10208704639828426_5630150_o

Up next there was this cute little Passport looking thingy, which – surprisingly – ended up being a little coloring book/ book preview for the new P.C Cast novel Moon Chosen! I flailed a bit. (That’s a lie. I flailed a lot)

14424007_10208704639508418_718646071_o

We were then gifted a cute little pouch with a quote from Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, which is coming out in theaters in a few days.

14394030_10208704639468417_1472730805_o

Though I’ve never read the series (I know, shame on me), I do love the quote on the back and I plan to use it regularly.

14439014_10208704639428416_249393429_o

Then we have one of my personal favorite items of the box: A Six of Crows bookmark with two of my favorite quotes! *incomprehensible fangirl screeching ensues*

14407850_10208704639988430_742597730_o

The artwork is so beautiful and delicate. I cannot wait to get this gorgeous thing between the pages of my next read. I’ll never let this out of my sight.

14374674_10208704639948429_1287548995_o

Last but not least, the included book for this month. Which, if I am to be completely honest, I also screamed and freaked out over because I was so damn happy. This month the box included Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake, which I am practically salivating over as I type this.

Summary from Goodreads:

Every generation on the island of Fennbirn, a set of triplets is born: three queens, all equal heirs to the crown and each possessor of a coveted magic. Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark hungry flames or vicious storms at the snap of her fingers. Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much as a stomachache. Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest of lions.

But becoming the Queen Crowned isn’t solely a matter of royal birth. Each sister has to fight for it. And it’s not just a game of win or lose…it’s life or death. The night the sisters turn sixteen, the battle begins. The last queen standing gets the crown.

If only it was that simple. Katharine is unable to tolerate the weakest poison, and Arsinoe, no matter how hard she tries, can’t make even a weed grow. The two queens have been shamefully faking their powers, taking care to keep each other, the island, and their powerful sister Mirabella none the wiser. But with alliances being formed, betrayals taking shape, and ruthless revenge haunting the queens’ every move, one thing is certain: the last queen standing might not be the strongest…but she may be the darkest.

I am off to go bask in the glory of this box. I can’t wait to dive into all of the fantastic goodies!

OwlCrate: May 2016

I’m so excited! In case you can’t tell by now, OwlCrate boxes are amazing and I love getting them in the mail. They’re glorious, and wonderful, and creative, and full of goodies that make your fangirl heart squeal.

In case you weren’t paying attention last month, the little preview told us what the theme would be. Anyone remember? Guess what! THIS MONTH’S THEME IS STEAMPUNK!

13401007_10207883820148447_749276232_n

Look how beautiful it is…

13382199_10207883820108446_858069833_n

I mean, just look at it! I’m in love, and it’s just the post card. Argh. OwlCrate kills me every time.

First up, we got this amazing set of nail art! I can’t wait to use it. I’m so excited I might die.

13342505_10207883819588433_1745542775_n

After that, I pulled out this awesome little (not really, it’s quite large) broach. It’s amazing, and I mean AH-MAZ-ING! Apparently, there were different accessories given out – so everyone pretty much got something different. I can’t wait to see what the others got.

13407696_10207883819868440_488776865_n

I can’t wait to wear it. I have no idea where to wear it or what to wear it with, but it shall be done!

I’m going to stick with the keys for a second, LOOK AT THIS NECKLACE! I am in love. Enough said.

13349214_10207883819748437_1172667904_n

It is simply beautiful.

Then we have one of my personal favorites: an Infernal Devices ring! I died a little bit. Yes, my lovely bookish people, that is the clockwork angel. Like I said, I died a little bit.

13401390_10207883819628434_663098741_n

Additionally, we were given this wonderful Peter Pan art print. I cannot wait to get a frame and hang it on my wall. If you don’t know, Peter Pan and Beauty and the Beast are my ultimate favorite fairy tales. Just sayin’.

13401411_10207883819668435_2024470560_n

On top of all that wonderful stuff, we also get a book – which, as usual, is probably my favorite part of the entire box despite how much I love everything else. This month we were gifted the wondrous Everland by Wendy Spinale. I screamed. DYSTOPIAN PETER PAN!?!?! Hell yes!

Summary from Goodreads:

London has been destroyed in a blitz of bombs and disease. The only ones who have survived are children, among them Gwen Darling and her siblings, Joanna and Mikey. They spend their nights scavenging and their days avoiding the ruthless Marauders — the German army led by Captain Hanz Otto Oswald Kretschmer.

Unsure if the virus has spread past England’s borders but desperate to leave, Captain Hook hunts for a cure, which he thinks can be found in one of the survivors. He and his Marauders stalk the streets snatching children for experimentation. None ever return. Until the day they grab Joanna. As Gwen sets out to save her, she meets a daredevil boy named Pete. Pete offers the assistance of his gang of Lost Boys and the fierce sharpshooter Bella, who have all been living in a city hidden underground. But in a place where help has a steep price and every promise is bound by blood, it will cost Gwen. And are she, Pete, the Lost Boys, and Bella enough to outsmart Captain Hook?

As part of the book package, there were some really cool, shiny looking temporary tattoos. It’s awesome.

OwlCrate: April 2016

IT’S OWL CRATE TIME!!! Ahhhhhh!!! Goodness, how I love these OwlCrate boxes. Just… they’re my favorite part of the month – plus Fandom of the Month stuff, but still.

In case you don’t know what the glorious OwlCrate is, it’s just like Fandom of the Month only.. better? I don’t know, I love them both. OwlCrate gives you a new release in the Young Adult world and a bunch of bookish stuff centered around a specific theme. It’s a subscription box that is worth every little penny – count on that. (You guys can sign up here)

This is round two of my OwlCrate experience, and I have to say that I am absolutely in love. If you haven’t signed up for this amazing thing yet, WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU!?! (Just kidding). This is just so wonderful.. it’s so, so incredible. I mean, you get a book and a bunch of other bookish merch. It is sheer perfection.

13115380_10207620277560047_2084121933_n

Pretty much my reaction to this:

This month’s theme, is… wait for it…. wait for it…. DYSTOPIAN!

13090325_10207620277480045_1008118560_n

13101034_10207620277240039_96667530_n

JUST… Just… LOOK AT IT! OH MY GOODNESS! It’s so beautiful, and perfect, and everything I think I’ve ever wanted.

First things first, I yanked out this awesome little notebook. Isn’t it cute?

13081585_10207620277040034_589489826_n

13115498_10207620276880030_1308596537_n

It’s the perfect little notebook. There are blank pages, so you can draw and write and all sorts of stuff.

Next, I pulled out a bracelet that gave me all the feels. I mean, the movies are all over now and… and… it’s like half of my childhood and the entirety of my high school experience. The final movie didn’t come out until my Sophomore year of college. It’s a special thing for me.

13101423_10207620276720026_1225262217_n

13081678_10207620276600023_26335676_n

Sticking with the Hunger Games theme, the next item is this is adorable little magnet. It’s the same artist who does the magnets for Fandom of the Month Club (And you all know how much I love those).

13101499_10207620276520021_1541444345_n

The cool thing is that everyone is getting different Hunger Games magnets. Some people got Katniss ones, some got these, and I’m pretty sure some people got Peeta, Effie, and Gale or something, too.

Next up is this amazing coaster from Evie Seo’s Society 6 store! LOOK AT IT! AHHHHHHH. I love it so much, so, so much.

13090498_10207620277080035_1821140844_n

After that came this cool little vinyl decal, which now sits upon my laptop. Muahahahaha.

13101464_10207620276160012_551087916_n

13089986_10207620274439969_1191296982_n

Another little beauty was this Star-Touched Queen design, which, if you read my review, you know I absolutely love.

13084309_10207620275760002_745006374_n

Last but not least, the book! This month’s book is Flawed by Cecilia Ahern.

13115806_10207620274079960_581318199_n

It, as did last month’s book, came with a hand-written note and a small bookplate with a quote.

Summary from Goodreads:

You will be punished…

Celestine North lives a perfect life. She’s a model daughter and sister, she’s well-liked by her classmates and teachers, and she’s dating the impossibly charming Art Crevan.

But then Celestine encounters a situation where she makes an instinctive decision. She breaks a rule and now faces life-changing repercussions. She could be imprisoned. She could be branded. She could be found flawed.

In her breathtaking young adult debut, bestselling author Cecelia Ahern depicts a society where perfection is paramount and flaws lead to punishment. And where one young woman decides to take a stand that could cost her everything.

I’m so excited to dive into this one! Honestly, it sounds amazing and I love dystopian novels. So, win win.

13077296_10207620273759952_1697679790_n

I’M SO EXCITED! Guys, guys, guys! Guess what the theme for the May box is!?!?! GUESS! GUESS! GUESS!

It’s Steampunk! WHHHHAATTTTT!!! Do you know what this means? Do you? INFERNAL DEVICES *squeals*

OwlCrate: March 2016

HOW DID I NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS PRECIOUS THING SOONER! Someone should have knocked some sense into me.

This is my first time getting an OwlCrate box, so I really had no idea what to expect besides sheer awesomeness. I am so glad I did this guys! I mean.. an adorable box full of bookish things and a book? Hell yes.

Look at the pretty little box! (Actually, the box is a pretty decent size)

12421710_10207282675480206_521472606_n

Isn’t it cute? The entire thing is actually decorated. There are footprints and all sorts of stuff throughout – it was so freaken adorable.

In case you were wondering, the theme of this month’s box was writer’s block! So fitting, right? (Shh.. don’t judge me and my nonexistent Wattpad updates)

12884481_10207282697560758_1049018093_n

12443266_10207282697400754_2108060092_n

Isn’t that awesome? I mean, not only is the postcard extremely detailed and fitting – there is an amazing note on the back and all sorts of little surprises thrown in.

The first thing I grabbed out of the box, besides the themed card, was this sweet little collection of buttons which now reside upon my bookshelf.

12516446_10207282674000169_1651070278_n

After that came a quill pen and an idea-generating notebook. I love them, I really, really do. They might be my favorite part of the box besides the book that came with it.

12895322_10207282674680186_35753631_n12721971_10207282674280176_1250709460_n

There are some seriously hilarious prompts in here guys, and I mean HI-LAR-I-OUS!

  • Boil down Hamlet to a tweet
  • You live in a cloud. Give three tips for how not to fall off
  • You’ve just heard your favorite potato chip flavor will no longer be available. Write an indignant letter to the manufacturer

That’s just some of them… there are over six-hundred.

12404658_10207282674160173_1799936278_n

Next came banned book socks. Squee!

This gorgeous pair made me unreasonably happy.

And finally… the book!

The book included in this month’s box is The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner.

12884568_10207282674920192_1699732655_n

It came with a handwritten note from the author and a really cute bookplate that has a profound quote.

Summary from Goodreads:

Dill has had to wrestle with vipers his whole life—at home, as the only son of a Pentecostal minister who urges him to handle poisonous rattlesnakes, and at school, where he faces down bullies who target him for his father’s extreme faith and very public fall from grace.

He and his fellow outcast friends must try to make it through their senior year of high school without letting the small-town culture destroy their creative spirits and sense of self. Graduation will lead to new beginnings for Lydia, whose edgy fashion blog is her ticket out of their rural Tennessee town. And Travis is content where he is thanks to his obsession with an epic book series and the fangirl turning his reality into real-life fantasy.

Their diverging paths could mean the end of their friendship. But not before Dill confronts his dark legacy to attempt to find a way into the light of a future worth living.

Doesn’t it sound amazing? I can’t wait to dive head first into this book!

So yea, that’s pretty much it. Amazing, huh? These have become my new favorite thing guys. I just found out next month’s box is going to be Dystopian themed and now I’m already squealing and I have to wait a month.

12443143_10207282673160148_1667807656_n

I would write something witty to sum this whole thing up, but I think the owl in the box is much better suited to this than I ever will be.
