Hey everyone! I come to you today with a discussion/essay I’ve written recently. I adore the new Beauty and the Beast film – and I mean head-over-heels, seen it three times, soundtrack on repeat adore the new film. I wrote this essay, and now I would be honored to share it with you. Maybe I can shed some light on why I love this film so much. Enjoy!

Obsidian Fan Cast
So, as all of you are now well aware (at least I hope so by now), I am a huge, explosive fan of the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Today, I’m going to do something a little fun.
Obsidian, the first book in the Lux series, has been optioned for a film and is now confirmed to be on the road to the big screen. Do you know what that means?
TIME FOR A FANCAST OF OBSIDIAN! Woohoo!
1. Daemon Black
Daemon is only the most important character, besides Katy of course. If you’ve kept track of my previous posts, you’ll know that I absolutely love him – so I take the responsibility of accurate fan-casting very seriously ; D. Daemon physically is described to be beautiful or handsome and to have dark hair and emerald green eyes with dark eyelashes that compliment his naturally tanned skin. It is mentioned in Obsidian that he walks around without a shirt on most of the time, even in the winter, showing off a well muscled and defined chest. So, guess who I pick?
Tyler Hoechlin! Just look at those eyes, yep, mhmm… Daemon Black.
2. Katy Swartz
Katy is our resident feisty heroine. I love her to pieces. Not only is she hilarious, but she is also a total book nerd who runs a blog. Katy is described to have light brown hair and grey eyes. In Obsidian, she mentions she has curvy hips, puffy lips and large eyes..
I picture Katy as either Pheobe Tonkin or Kat Dennings, maybe a mix of the two.
2. Dee Black
Dee is Daemon’s sister, and I freaken love her. She is a little spitfire and she isn’t afraid to say what she is thinking – also, she doesn’t put up with Daemon’s shit. Dee is described beautiful and has a tall, thin figure, like the body of a ballerina. She has long curly black hair that extends to her waist. Like her brother, she has bright green eyes. My ideal casting would be Adelaide Kane, but I know that she is committed to Reign (which I love). But, whatever XD She’s still my ultimate fancast choice.
P.S: She played Derek Hale’s ( AKA Tyler Hoechlin’s) sister in Teen Wolf
I’m sure that, if you’ve read the books, you’ve noticed that I only did the the main characters. I plan to do three more characters next week, namely Ash, Andrew, and Adam Thompson.
So, what do you guys think? Agree/disagree? Who would you cast and why? Let me know in the comments down below and we can fangirl together ❤
Obsidian Movie News
if you guys are unaware, I am extremely obsessed with The Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I did a post a couple of weeks ago when she first came out with some news, the bare minimum, and you can check that out here. In this post, I talk about how we are going to be receiving news in the future and some of the other basic knowledge – but as of a few minutes ago, that news has been received.
I have to tell you, the best part about this entire thing was that I screamed and started flailing/dancing in my chair in the middle of lunch. As in, in the middle of the cafeteria. Surrounded by people in their twenties. Yea… I’m guessing I looked certifiably insane. But, guess what? I DON’T GIVE A FUCK BECAUSE I AM SO GODDAMN HAPPY!
Guys, guys… I mean, Daemon Black. Daemon Black is coming to the big screen and it is officially official. Like, LOOK AT HIM!
*Cue screaming*
We now know that:
- Novelist/screenwriter Ava Dellaria (author of Love Letter’s to the Dead) will adapt Obsdian
- It will be produced by Mr. Mudd’s Russ Smith and Lianne Halfon
- The team for this adaptation is the same team that did The Perks of Being a Wallflower
There is no casting news or anything else yet, but this alone is huge. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS!?! It is happening, it is actually happening and you can’t stop it.
I am so excited right now, I’ve been internally screaming the entire time I was writing this post.

Shadowhunters Footage
OH MY GOOOOOOODDDDDNNESSSSSS! ARGGSHSLBEGFAGGSPSSHHH!
Okay, now that is out of the way.
Once again, I have woken up to the Shadowhunter fandom in uproar over something new. And trust me when I tell you this, this time – it is so worth it. Remember my post about the full trailer yesterday? I was so worried, so upset with the interpretation I saw. This footage just blew all of my worries away and replaced them with a startlingly strong sense of hope. Sure, there are still changes and the dialogue is a bit weird at times – but adaptations are rarely perfect. In my opinion, this comes pretty damn close.
I loved everything about it. Jace was glorious. Isabelle was a goddess. Alec…. God, don’t get me started on how much I wish Alec was straight.
What do you guys think? Are you as excited as I am? Don’t be shy, I don’t bite – I promise : )
Shadowhunters Full Trailer
As you guys know, yesterday they released a small teaser trailer for Shadowhunters (you can see my post about that here)
This morning I woke up to my phone blowing up with news that a full trailer had dropped down on our heads, so imagine my excitement as I hunted it down on my phone and started blasting it at six this morning. I have to say, I am both disappointed and very excited. It’s a strange feeling, seeing something you love so much look entirely different yet still have the same feel to it. We still get Clary, her missing mother, brooding/sarcastic Jace, and a whole bunch of other badassness – but things also look so out there. What the hell is with Clary’s mom dropping info? Since when does Clary teleport? Why is she holding a Seraph blade in the club and kills the demon? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY BABY!
Okay, mini rant over. Regardless of the changes present in the trailer, it still looks like a decent show. I know I am going to watch it no matter what simply because of what it is. How about you? After watching the trailer (included below), do you still want to watch it? What do you think about the changes so far?
Also, Jace is perfect. I don’t know about you, but Jace, Alec, and Isabelle look like absolute perfection – and so does Clary. The story might be a bit wack, but the characters look as if they were yanked out of the book and put in front of a camera.
